Altered Photo Frames - Prima Lyric

Hey all!!

I'm to share with you guys a project for Scrapyland.com. I hope you had a chance to check out the other fabulous ladies on the design team. I am happy to be a part of such a creative group (awww)!

Ok, on to my project. I've been meaning to alter some photo frames and give them as gifts to a couple friends. They sat around my room for almost a year! I got each of these frames from Michaels for under $2 last December, with the intention of giving them as Christmas presents. Does anyone else do that? Ugh.

I used the beautiful Prima Lyric paper pad for both of these frames. I first added gesso to my frames - front and back. I added mod podge to the frames and laid my paper down. I sanded the edges to get that 'clean' look. I wanted to add some interest to the inside of the frame. I chose lace to help me out - Love it!!  I die cut some flowers using my Spellbinders Aster Flower Topper Die with the paper collection.  I topped them with some flowers from my stash and added stickles for some sparkle. Here is a look at the first frame.

The flat back pearls and spray added some definition to the frame. The black "wire" is from a pic I got from Michaels.

The treasure epoxy sticker is added on top of a wooden banner from Studio Calico. Tucked under the flowers is a flower filagree, it was a great fit.

Oh my - I love how they turned out. I hope they will too!!! So I had to create another, right? For the second one, I followed the same base procedure as the first.  As for the added decor, I opted for a more simple and elegant look. I had a string of pearls that would be perfect for it - so I added them all around the frame. I tried to create a look of the pearls freely dancing around the frame. I added the smallest of the die cut flower topper under a wooden and paper flower. I did this to add some interest. I added a few tiny flowers to the piece as well. The lace again, I glued to the inside of the frame. I think it turned out cute as well. Take a peek :)

The cherry blossoms are from Wild Orchard Crafts. They add just the right touch.

Voila! We're done! This project was simple and fun to make. It will surely brighten someone day, if it were received as a gift from a friend :) Thanks for stopping by!! Be sure to check out Scrapyland.com for the Prima Lyric paper and the Spellbinders Aster Flower die. They are great products to have in your arsenal!

Scrappy Hugs,

Tmika
