Shabby Chic Mixed Media Tag

Hey guys!!

I'm really excited to share with you all today! I dabbled into mixed media a bit last week for my C.A.S.E. IT CARD TUESDAY series I host on my YouTube channel. I had so much fun playing around with the different art mediums - I had to do it again! There is so much to learn about the art of mixed media. I found a host of tutorials online and decided to give it another go round.

I picked out a paper pad that I thought would work for my tag. I used the infamous Prima Engraver paper pad. When you see it at first glance, you think vintage or grunge. But really, it pretty versatile. Here is a pic of what I created using the paper.

Omg! It's so cute!! I started my base page with a darker color from the collection. I went over that with a coat of Gesso.  I started using my brick mask from Crafter's Companion and some homemade texture paste.  Next, I added beautiful colors. I used Dylusions, Mister Huey's, Lindy's Stamp Gang and Shimmers pPaints to get that perfect backdrop on my tag. Love it!

Next I cut out a doily from my favorite doily die from Cheery Lynn. I cut that in half to use at the top and bottom of my tag. I then cut from the same page design, the daisy topper die cuts. I really liked the layering effect it was causing. Take a peek :)

I wanted to floral arrangement to pop up a bit, so I used foam dots to help with that. I placed them underneath a piece of chipboard I layered with the design paper. I did a quick whitewash on that and added more of the textured brick to it.  I found some adhesive canvas and wood pieces in my stash that had the perfect sentiments on it. On that goes, on top of the chip piece.

I decided to tie some seam binding and add a ribbon buckle and a flat back pearl to the top.  Finally, I added some metal embellishments, crochet doilies, leaves and white pearls to finish the tag.

I absolutely LOVE how this turned out!!! What do you think? I will definitely have my hand in more paint, gesso and paste in the near future, lol!

Don't forget to stop by Scrapyland.com to pick up the Prima Engraver paper pad, the foam dots, the Spellbinders Daisy Topper die, the seam binding and much, much more!!

Thank for stopping by and hope to see you next time!

Scrappy Hugs ~ Tmika
